During November 2024, Maholland enhanced the danswer-ai/danswer repository by developing an environment-aware Feedback Modal using React and TypeScript. This feature dynamically applied predefined feedback options based on environment variables, ensuring that default selections matched each deployment’s configuration. By aligning feedback defaults with specific environments, Maholland improved both user experience and the accuracy of captured feedback data. The implementation focused on front end development, with careful attention to code quality through code reviews and continuous integration checks. Although the work was limited to a single feature over one month, it addressed a clear need for reliable, context-sensitive feedback collection.
