Worked on the gitlabhq/gitlab-runner repository to deliver a feature enhancing the Kubernetes executor for air-gapped and on-premise environments. Focused on enabling imagePullSecrets support for pause pods, the work involved updating the Kubernetes autoscaler configuration and integrating the new PausePodImagePullSecrets option through the PausePodManagerConfig. The implementation included modifying the PausePod Deployment PodSpec to apply imagePullSecrets, adding a helper function for converting string names to LocalObjectReference, and expanding unit test coverage. Using Go and leveraging DevOps and Kubernetes expertise, the changes maintained backward compatibility and provided example configurations to support private registries in restricted network environments.
