In January 2025, Alex Kaplan enhanced the openshift/assisted-service repository by enabling Fibre Channel disk type eligibility for the x86_64 architecture. This work involved updating the hardware validator in Go to recognize Fibre Channel as a valid drive type, expanding storage options for the platform. Alex also refactored the disk eligibility tests, renaming variables to provide clearer failure messages and improve test maintainability. Focusing on backend development, system design, and testing, Alex’s contributions addressed storage compatibility and code clarity. The work demonstrated a methodical approach to feature implementation, with attention to both functional requirements and the quality of automated test feedback.
