Worked on the UKGovernmentBEIS/inspect_ai repository, delivering a new configuration feature for the OpenRouter API that allows toggling reasoning capabilities and improves error handling when conflicting parameters are provided. Addressed a logging reliability issue by correcting the logger import, ensuring consistent observability across the backend. The technical approach focused on enhancing configurability and stability, using Python for backend development with an emphasis on robust API development, error handling, and logging practices. These changes reduced the risk of incidents and improved diagnostics, aligning the codebase with business needs for reliability and maintainability during the month-long contribution period.
