Worked on enhancing IP address management for multi-pool environments in the rancher/cilium repository, focusing on scalable and predictable allocation. Developed a new configuration pathway by introducing the ipam.multiPoolPreAllocation parameter to the Helm chart, enabling pre-allocation of IP addresses and reducing allocation latency and fragmentation. The implementation involved updates to YAML configuration files and comprehensive RST documentation to guide users through setup and expected behavior. Leveraging skills in DevOps, Kubernetes, and Helm, the work laid the foundation for improved scalability and reliability in multi-pool deployments, with all changes prepared for review and integration into the upcoming release pipeline.
