Fionn Tolster developed a configurable maximum ingestion age feature for the Clickhouse Logs Exporter in the SigNoz/signoz-otel-collector repository. By replacing a hardcoded 15-day limit with a user-defined parameter, Fionn enabled batch ingestion of historical logs and eliminated a data loss risk in the export pipeline. The work involved backend development in Go, with a focus on configuration management and integration with the OTEL Collector. Fionn adhered to established code organization and observability logging standards, ensuring the solution was robust and maintainable. This update improved the reliability and flexibility of log data retention and historical analysis for SigNoz users.
