Juha-Matti Santala extended the Ecology Data Model in the espoon-voltti/luontotieto repository to support richer ecological data capture and Natura classifications. He introduced a new habitat enumeration for liito-orava’s reproductive sites and added database columns for Natura classifications, enabling more detailed analytics and regulatory reporting. Using Kotlin and SQL, Juha-Matti focused on database design and management, ensuring all changes were version-controlled for traceability and auditability. The work aligned with the project’s data-model modernization roadmap, improving data quality and supporting downstream analytics. No major bugs were reported, reflecting a focused and well-scoped feature delivery within the one-month period.
