Aahil Mehta developed JAX Named Scopes Support in the Keras backend for the keras-team/keras repository, focusing on integrating JAX’s named_scope with Keras’ name_scope to improve scope management and debugging. Using Python and leveraging backend development skills, Aahil mapped JAX’s scope constructs to Keras, enabling clearer organization and traceability of JAX-based computations within Keras workflows. This work addressed the challenge of aligning scope semantics between the two frameworks, laying a foundation for broader JAX integration and maintainability. Although the contribution was limited to a single feature over one month, it demonstrated thoughtful engineering and attention to future extensibility in the codebase.
