During May 2025, Franco Gomes enhanced the NethermindEth/nethermind repository by stabilizing its test infrastructure and improving tracing reliability in state tests. He addressed a critical bug in the StateTestTxTracer, refining precompile call tracing to eliminate no-op behavior and ensure accurate operation reporting. Franco also refactored the test suite’s logging, routing all output to stderr to prevent log contamination of test results, and consolidated logger initialization for greater maintainability. Working primarily in C#, he applied skills in debugging, refactoring, and unit testing to deliver targeted improvements that increased test determinism and software quality, demonstrating thoughtful engineering within a short timeframe.
