Worked on the nychealth/EH-dataportal repository, delivering two features over two months focused on geospatial and demographic data quality. Developed a GeoJSON shoreline clipping and data cleanup process using JavaScript and geospatial data analysis, which improved the accuracy and usability of health geography datasets by removing illogical artifacts and aligning features to shoreline boundaries. Later, updated demographic data for UHF areas to cover 2019-2023, fixed frontend rendering of age-based population percentages, and harmonized neighborhood-level figures for consistency. Emphasized data cleaning, validation, and frontend development to ensure reliable, up-to-date information for GIS-based visualization and decision support on the platform.
July 2025 monthly summary for nychealth/EH-dataportal focused on demographic data enhancements for UHF. Delivered updated demographic data to 2019-2023, fixed rendering of age-based population percentages (65+, under 18), and harmonized neighborhood-level figures across UHF areas for consistency. Implemented time-period calculation fixes to ensure correct temporal alignment of demographics. These changes improve data accuracy, reliability, and cross-neighborhood comparability, strengthening decision-making and user trust in the platform.
