Worked on the buildbuddy-io/buildbuddy repository to enhance Bazel remote cache reliability by addressing a critical bug in sidecar URL normalization. Focused on backend development using Go, Bazel, and gRPC, the work involved correcting the translation of HTTP and HTTPS remote cache URLs to their appropriate gRPC formats, preventing invalid dial targets and connection errors. Comprehensive unit tests were added to ensure robust URL handling, including passthrough and translation scenarios. Updates to repository tooling and CI processes improved developer productivity and test reliability. The work demonstrated careful attention to edge cases and laid groundwork for future improvements in authentication and socket support.
