Worked on the communitiesuk/prsdb-webapp, focusing on backend development to address data integrity issues related to EPC expiry date handling. Tackled a parsing bug by removing the legacy getDateInUK helper and updating the EpcDataModel to parse expiry date strings directly into LocalDate, leveraging the Java Date/Time API for consistency. This targeted fix ensured accurate date formatting and eliminated discrepancies between storage and business logic, supporting downstream data quality and regulatory compliance. The work was delivered as a minimal, well-scoped change in Kotlin, emphasizing maintainability and reliability in the application’s data processing pipeline without introducing new features.
