Worked on enhancing filesystem reliability in the geerlingguy/linux and linux-riscv/linux repositories by delivering targeted bug fixes to the Ext4 subsystem. Focused on improving fsmap reporting accuracy, particularly for large deployments with bigalloc enabled, by correcting end-of-range mapping and handling reserved GDT blocks. Addressed issues with zero-length entries to reduce noise and improve data quality. In linux-riscv/linux, fixed metadata query handling so that extents partially overlapping queried ranges are reported correctly, increasing the accuracy of metadata outputs. Utilized C programming, kernel development, and filesystem design skills to improve observability, capacity planning, and long-term stability of Ext4.
September 2025: Focused on stabilizing filesystem metadata querying in the linux-riscv/linux project. Delivered a targeted Ext4 metadata query accuracy fix, corrected handling of metadata mappings for extents partially overlapping the queried range, and validated improvements with targeted tests. This work enhances correctness and reliability of filesystem metadata outputs, reducing potential misreporting in tooling and monitoring.

Monthly performance summary for 2025-08 focused on the geerlingguy/linux workstream. Delivered critical correctness fixes to Ext4 fsmap reporting to enhance mapping accuracy and reliability in production environments, particularly for large deployments with bigalloc enabled. Addressed edge cases that previously caused inaccurate or noisy fsmap data, improving observability and capacity planning.
