Worked on backend development and performance optimization for the girder/large_image repository, focusing on improving DICOM import workflows. Implemented a feature in Python that skips adjacent DICOM file searches during import when noCache is enabled, which prevents the unnecessary creation of S3 adapters and reduces both CPU and I/O load. This adjustment ensures that adjacent file searches occur only when images are actively viewed, not during initial batch imports. The result was faster import times and lower resource usage, directly supporting scalability for large medical imaging datasets. Demonstrated strong skills in Python, performance tuning, and understanding of DICOM and S3 workflows.
