Sarveshwar Balne developed a comprehensive smoke test suite for the NHSDigital/dtos-cohort-manager repository, targeting critical data flows such as file upload and cohort distribution. Leveraging C#, SpecFlow, and Azure Blob Storage, Sarveshwar implemented automated tests that validate successful uploads, ensure data integrity against the SQL database, and handle amended records and targeted exception scenarios. The work included building environment scaffolding and creating helpers for seamless interaction with both storage and database layers. This focused engineering effort enhanced early defect detection and reduced production risk, providing deeper test coverage and increasing release confidence for data-intensive cohort management workflows within the project.
