Developed a configurable stat_statements collection feature for the Prometheus Postgres Exporter in the grafana/alloy repository, enabling users to include query text, select specific query IDs, and set maximum stored statement lengths. The work involved updating Go-based internal logic, enhancing configuration management, and revising documentation to support these new options. By improving observability and data governance for SQL queries, the changes allowed for more actionable metrics while controlling data volume. The approach demonstrated proficiency in Go, system monitoring, and database exporter integration, with a focus on maintainable workflows and clear documentation. No major bugs were addressed during this period.
