During July 2025, contributed backend development work to the hackclub/summer-of-making repository by extending the Project model’s YSWS dropdown to include a Hackcraft category. This Ruby-based enhancement improved project categorization, enabling more precise filtering, reporting, and analytics for Hackcraft-related initiatives. The technical approach focused on a single, well-scoped change to the model’s enumeration, minimizing deployment risk and simplifying potential rollback. No bugs were reported during this period, reflecting a careful and low-risk implementation. The update strengthened data quality and alignment with program needs, supporting better tracking of Hackcraft projects while maintaining clear traceability through a focused commit history.
