Worked on the rossvideo/Catena repository to unify and modernize status code handling across REST and gRPC transports, focusing on transport-neutral operation and improved error signaling. Over two months, centralized status code semantics and documentation, aligning with SMPTE standards and replacing legacy HTTP-shaped constants with idiomatic Go names. Refactored transport mappers and error handling to ensure consistent behavior, simplified edge-case logic, and improved maintainability for downstream clients. Addressed critical bugs in JSON and Content-Type handling, reinforced HTTP method enforcement, and validated changes through comprehensive end-to-end tests. Utilized Go for backend development, API design, and documentation throughout the project.
June 2026 monthly summary for rossvideo/Catena focused on strengthening transport error handling and REST/gRPC interoperability. Implemented a comprehensive StatusCode unification aligned with SMPTE PCDs, removed legacy REST-numeric constants, and rewrote transport mappers to ensure consistent status signaling across APIs. Fixed critical JSON/Content-Type handling and reinforced transport-layer behavior for HTTP method enforcement and 204/no-body semantics. Validated through end-to-end tests and PR-level checks, with tangible business impact including more predictable error signaling, easier maintenance, and improved reliability for downstream clients.

May 2026 focused on unifying Catena's status code contract to support transport-neutral operation across REST and gRPC, with centralized documentation and groundwork for future refactors. The work reduces cross-transport coupling, improves consistency of status semantics, and enhances onboarding and maintenance.
