Worked on the trinodb/trino repository to enhance cross-platform build reliability by updating documentation for Apple Silicon users. Addressed a recurring build issue where certain web UI npm packages, required during the build process, are only available for x86 architectures. Used Markdown to clearly document the need for Rosetta on Apple Silicon Macs, ensuring developers are aware of this prerequisite before starting the build. Focused on improving onboarding and reducing build failures by providing explicit guidance in the project’s README. The work centered on documentation skills and cross-platform development considerations, supporting a smoother experience for contributors using diverse hardware environments.
