Month 2025-11 – SigNoz/signoz: Key features and bug fixes delivered with a focus on reliability, metrics visibility, and alerting. Three high-impact changes were completed: 1) PostableRule Validation and Error Handling Improvement: integrated validation into UnmarshalJSON, refactored default processing to remove error-bearing logic, and enhanced error messaging for missing composite queries (commit 1a193015a79dde0657bb5f653d4c399e93fd853b). These changes improve data integrity and faster diagnosis of misconfigurations. 2) Query Metric Extraction and Analysis Enhancements: added ability to extract metric name and grouping keys for ClickHouse and PromQL, with new extractor classes to parse SQL and PromQL queries enabling more accurate metric analysis and richer dashboards (commit 09cbe4aa0d64b6d1bcbf9a00064162fe8acdd2c0). 3) Alert Recovery Threshold Feature: introduced recovery threshold to transition alerts to recovering state when conditions improve, reducing alert fatigue and improving incident recovery workflows (commit 52228bc6c41daec311887fd69db12cf0a4cd0a66). Overall impact: improved reliability, better observability, and streamlined alerting, driving faster remediation and more trustworthy metrics. Technologies/skills demonstrated: Go JSON unmarshalling customization, error handling patterns, refactoring for maintainability, building query extractors for CH and PromQL, and alert lifecycle enhancements.
