During November 2024, Abiliu Liu delivered a targeted analytics refactor for the OneCommunityGlobal/HGNRest repository, focusing on volunteer trends reporting. Liu built a new Volunteer Trends Analytics Endpoint using JavaScript, Node.js, and MongoDB, enabling aggregation of volunteer counts across multiple timeframes. The technical approach replaced the previous time-entry based aggregation with a direct method that computes active volunteers from user profiles based on creation date and selected timeframe, improving both accuracy and performance. No major bugs were recorded, reflecting a stable release. The work demonstrated depth in data aggregation and REST API design, addressing evolving analytics requirements for the project.
