
Over a two-month period, contributed to the icanbwell/fhir-server repository by designing and implementing a scalable FHIR bulk data import system. This work introduced a Kafka-based orchestrator–worker architecture, decoupling orchestration from initial requests and centralizing configuration for maintainability. Leveraging AWS S3 for storage and streaming NDJSON data, the implementation included robust security validations and improved error handling to reduce operational risk. The developer enhanced test reliability by expanding Jest-based test scaffolding and addressing lifecycle issues. Using JavaScript, Node.js, and Kafka, the contributions focused on distributed systems, backend development, and secure, high-throughput data ingestion workflows.
