Worked on enhancing observability within the solrbot/apache-_-solr repository by migrating the Solr AuditLoggerPlugin’s metrics collection from Codahale to OpenTelemetry. This involved implementing OTEL counters, timers, and histograms to provide more granular and flexible monitoring capabilities. The migration required updating metric registration and attribute handling in Java, ensuring that the new system supports richer data for performance analysis and alerting. By focusing on backend development and leveraging skills in metrics and observability, the work laid the foundation for improved monitoring of audit logging workflows, enabling teams to gain deeper insights into system behavior and operational health.
