Worked on enhancing the stability and resource management of the Apache Ozone File System within the apache/ozone repository, focusing on its integration with Hadoop’s FileContext API. Addressed a memory leak issue by implementing finalize methods in OzFs classes, ensuring that underlying file system resources are properly closed after use. This targeted fix improved reliability for long-running Hadoop workloads by preventing resource retention and reducing memory footprint during FileContext operations. The work leveraged Java and deep knowledge of file systems and memory management, contributing to more robust enterprise deployments and supporting the long-term stability of distributed storage environments.
