During January 2025, Aho Chauwa focused on backend development and protocol implementation within the erlang/otp repository, addressing stability issues in DiameterURI handling. Working in Erlang, Aho enhanced network programming robustness by introducing sensible defaults for missing RFC fields, such as defaulting the port to 3868 and transport to TCP, in line with RFC 6733 and 3588. This approach prevented decode crashes and encoding failures, ensuring reliable re-encoding of DiameterAVPs and improving interoperability with Diameter peers. The work demonstrated careful attention to RFC compliance and runtime resilience, with well-documented commits that facilitate future enhancements and maintainability in protocol code.
