In April 2026, Aitema enhanced accessibility in the preset-io/superset repository by implementing dynamic locale-based HTML lang attributes and adding aria-labels to navigation landmarks. Using React and TypeScript, Aitema focused on improving screen reader support and aligning the application with WCAG 3.1.2 and 3.2.3 guidelines. The work involved updating the front end to reflect the current locale for better internationalization and ensuring navigation elements were properly labeled for assistive technologies. These targeted changes addressed specific accessibility requirements, delivered through two co-authored commits, and were completed without introducing regressions, demonstrating careful attention to both usability and code stability.
