Amy developed and delivered three features across modal-labs/modal-client and modal-labs/modal-examples, focusing on observability, build flexibility, and onboarding. She enhanced the modal-client by adding verbose logging to the Sandbox API and supporting Docker image build arguments, using Python and protobuf to extend API definitions and client logic. These changes improved debugging visibility and deployment reproducibility in CI/CD workflows. In modal-examples, Amy built a sandbox environment demo for Anthropic’s computer-use scenario, automating service status checks and providing user guidance for sandbox management. Her work demonstrated depth in backend development, containerization, and cloud computing, addressing operational reliability and user onboarding challenges.
July 2025: Delivered a Sandbox Environment Demo in Modal for running Anthropic's computer-use demo inside a Modal, with image, secrets, and port configurations. The feature includes automated service-status checks and clear guidance for accessing and managing the sandbox, reducing onboarding time and enabling safer, isolated experimentation. This work demonstrates end-to-end delivery from configuration through verification in a containerized modal environment, with traceable changes via commit dfc1e079970b48db26dd349bd9176c0a38faf10a.
