Worked on the apache/hive repository to deliver Java 17 compatibility for Apache Hive, focusing on both compile-time and runtime readiness. Updated build automation and refactored Java code to support JDK 17, including adjustments to build configurations and the addition of required --add-opens flags for HADOOP_CLIENT_OPTS. Aligned CI/CD pipelines, Docker images, and shell-based runtime scripts to ensure consistent deployments across environments. Utilized Java, Dockerfile, and Shell scripting to implement these changes. This work established a foundation for ongoing modernization, reducing future maintenance risk and enabling downstream users to adopt Java 17 with fewer integration challenges.
