In November 2024, Alex contributed to the Automattic/gutenberg repository by delivering a Block Editor Zoom UX Enhancement focused on improving the zoom in and out experience within the editor iframe. Using JavaScript, React, and CSS, Alex refined the animation and logic to keep content centered and reduce layout shifts during zoom operations, particularly in large documents. The solution ensured smooth transitions and improved editor responsiveness, addressing user experience and productivity concerns. While no bugs were fixed during this period, the work demonstrated depth in front end development and a thoughtful approach to enhancing WordPress block editor usability and performance.
