In September 2025, Alex McLain enhanced the home-assistant/buildroot repository by adding support for the Intel 6E Ty Wi-Fi architecture in linux-firmware. He updated the Buildroot configuration to include the new 'ty' firmware variant alongside the existing 'so' variant, enabling compatibility with next-generation Intel Wi-Fi hardware.
