Alex QM developed a feature for the home-assistant/core repository that enables users to control the Samsung air conditioner’s display light through the SmartThings integration. By exposing a new control entity, Alex allowed the display light to be managed directly from the Home Assistant UI and included support for automation workflows. The work focused on aligning device control with product goals of parity and automation readiness, improving both convenience and visibility for end users. Using Python and leveraging skills in home automation and IoT development, Alex contributed a targeted, well-integrated solution that enhanced the maintainability and user accessibility of the integration.
