
Worked on the micrometer-metrics/micrometer repository to deliver an OTLP metrics payload compression mode, enhancing the efficiency of metrics transmission across microservices. Developed a configurable compression option, supporting gzip or no compression, by updating both the OtlpConfig and sender components in Java. Ensured backward compatibility by maintaining default behavior for senders that do not support compression. Added comprehensive tests to validate the integration and correctness of the new feature, focusing on robust API development and backend reliability. This work improved network efficiency and scalability for metrics pipelines, demonstrating a methodical approach to backend engineering and feature validation within a Java ecosystem.
