The work centered on creating a maintainable, installable tool by implementing a dedicated build script and configuration files using bash and YAML. Packaging and workflow improvements included adding a build section, refining the build script, and ensuring proper folder creation to support robust, reproducible builds. The project also involved renaming and branding the tool as camisim2 for clarity within the conda ecosystem, ultimately facilitating reproducible research and accelerating metagenomic dataset simulation for downstream analyses.
