During February 2026, Alex Katastima developed a configurable development server IP address feature for the facebook/react-native repository, focusing on enhancing developer experience and build reproducibility. Leveraging Kotlin and Gradle within the Android development environment, Alex enabled the specification of a custom server IP through a Gradle property, which is then propagated into the runtime configuration. This approach supports flexible network setups and consistent builds across local and CI environments. The implementation included end-to-end validation, from gradle.properties to APK generation and runtime resource checks, and was documented with a changelog entry.
