During January 2025, Am Sanabria focused on improving the reliability of the MITIM-fusion project by addressing a critical bug in the PORTALS main workflow. Working in the pabloprf/MITIM-fusion repository, Am identified and corrected a function naming error in the residual calculation logic, updating the call from calculatePseudos to calculate_residuals in Python. This targeted bug fix eliminated the risk of incorrect residuals in data processing pipelines, directly supporting safer production usage. Am’s work emphasized code maintainability and traceability, with clear commit messages and standardized naming, demonstrating a methodical approach to bug resolution and code quality in Python-based scientific workflows.
