Andrea Santoro developed a feature for the streamlit/streamlit repository that enables setting a default initial value for the st.feedback component, streamlining feedback collection workflows. Leveraging JavaScript and Python, Andrea implemented core library changes to support rendering and toggling of preset values, and created comprehensive end-to-end tests to validate default state behavior and user interactions. This work addressed multiple related issues and established a more consistent user experience by reducing configuration steps and supporting predictable analytics. The depth of the implementation, including both UI and backend logic, laid groundwork for more configurable UI patterns in future Streamlit components.
