Worked on the videolan/vlc repository to streamline backend logic by removing the deprecated Apple Trailers URL translation feature. Focused on codebase cleanup, the developer eliminated the legacy appletrailers.lua script, which previously handled translation of Apple trailers video URLs to movie URLs. This targeted refactoring, implemented using Lua scripting and backend development skills, reduced code-path complexity and ongoing maintenance requirements. By clarifying URL handling and documenting the changes with clear commit messages, the work enabled smoother future enhancements and minimized the risk of regressions. The update improved repository hygiene and set a foundation for more maintainable feature development moving forward.
