During November 2025, Aner worked on improving the reliability and correctness of the Drools rule engine in the apache/incubator-kie-drools repository. Focusing on Java and leveraging expertise in rule engine development and unit testing, Aner addressed a bug in activation group handling to ensure that activation groups are correctly applied after a rule fires. Aner introduced a reactivation test to validate behavior across rules within the same activation group, using TrackingAgendaEventListener to observe transitions and enhance debuggability. These changes reduced production risk and improved the predictability of decision automation, aligning the rule engine’s behavior with enterprise deployment requirements.
