Developed a metric expiration control feature for the grafana/opentelemetry-ebpf-instrumentation repository, enabling operators to disable metric expiration by setting the Time-To-Live (TTL) to zero. The implementation involved updating the DeleteExpired logic to bypass expiration checks when TTL is zero, ensuring metrics persist as needed. Comprehensive tests were added to validate both the disabled and standard expiration scenarios, reducing the risk of future regressions. The work was closely aligned with a specific feature request, with clear documentation and code comments to support ongoing maintenance. The project leveraged Go for backend development and system programming, emphasizing maintainability and operator visibility.
