Angel Barrera Sanchez developed a metric expiration control feature for the grafana/opentelemetry-ebpf-instrumentation repository, enabling operators to disable metric expiration by setting the Time-To-Live (TTL) to zero. Working in Go and focusing on backend development and system programming, Angel updated the DeleteExpired logic to recognize and skip expiration when TTL is zero, addressing a specific business need for flexible metric retention. Comprehensive tests were added to verify both the disabled and standard expiration paths, reducing the risk of future regressions. Clear documentation and code comments were provided to support maintainability and ensure traceability from feature request through deployment.
