Worked on improving focus handling reliability in the adobe/react-spectrum repository, addressing issues with elements that have getter-only accessors. Refactored the underlying implementation of HTMLElement.prototype.focus using JavaScript and TypeScript, leveraging Reflect.defineProperty to ensure compatibility across browsers. This technical approach reduced focus-related errors and enhanced accessibility consistency for users. Added comprehensive regression tests to verify stability when focus is an accessor-only property, increasing test coverage and confidence in the codebase. The work contributed to more robust front end behavior, reducing potential bugs and support tickets while delivering a smoother user experience for applications built with React and related technologies.
