During November 2024, Alex enhanced the cssgunc/beautiful-together-next repository by developing an image-rich web scraping feature focused on available dogs and cats. Using Python, BeautifulSoup, and Requests, Alex introduced dedicated scraping functions for dog and cat images, separating image logic from general scraping to improve maintainability and testability. The database schema was extended via Supabase to persist scraped image data, supporting richer animal profiles and enabling improved search relevance and analytics. While no bugs were fixed during this period, the work reduced technical debt and established a robust foundation for future image quality controls and feature expansion within the product.
