Worked on the SUSE/rmt repository to deliver support for XZ-compressed metadata in repomd repositories, focusing on backend development with Ruby and Ruby on Rails. The solution enabled metadata files to be stored in a compressed format and decompressed prior to parsing, reducing storage requirements and improving retrieval speed. Upgraded the repomd_parser gem to version 1.2.0, which streamlined the parsing logic and eliminated the need for temporary file handling, thereby lowering maintenance overhead and minimizing parsing errors. Comprehensive end-to-end validation was implemented to ensure compatibility with existing tooling and downstream consumers, with a strong emphasis on robust testing practices.
