Month: 2025-11 — Delivered cross-runtime observability enablement for AWS MCP on EKS. Key feature delivered: AWS Application Signals Enablement Guides for Java, Python, and Node.js, including IAM role configurations and deployment instructions. Minor CI/pre-commit fixes were performed during guide updates. Commit 0d2e5e6924cf79c4f7e0b0b5dc396818fbd9ab15 contributed to these guides; co-authored by Michael He.

May 2025 performance summary for open-telemetry/semantic-conventions: Delivered expanded observability attributes for AWS services and updated relevant docs, enhancing instrumentation fidelity across the AWS ecosystem. Implemented new AWS attributes for Bedrock, Kinesis, Secrets Manager, SNS, and SQS; updated AWS Lambda resource mapping; refreshed Generative AI and messaging documentation to reflect the new attributes. No major bug fixes this month. Overall, this work improves cross-service traceability, metrics collection, and developer onboarding, aligning with business goals of reliable observability and faster integration for customers. Technologies demonstrated include OpenTelemetry conventions, AWS service instrumentation, code/documentation contribution, and documentation discipline.

March 2025: Focused feature delivery on AWS Lambda tracing enhancements and OpenTelemetry integration for aws-otel-python-instrumentation. Implemented a Lambda Span Processor, introduced a Lambda Multiple Span Flag to better model multi-span traces, and updated Flask span naming to use API routes for clearer visibility in Application Signals. Also ensured consistent tracing behavior when Application Signals is toggled, improving reliability across environments and enabling faster root-cause analysis in production.
