Worked on enhancing observability for the River queue system in the zitadel/zitadel repository, focusing on backend development and distributed systems using Go. Integrated OpenTelemetry metrics to provide detailed visibility into job processing times and queue sizes, addressing previous gaps in monitoring. Added otelriver middleware to the queue configuration, standardizing metrics collection and supporting proactive issue diagnosis. Updated and aligned dependencies to ensure comprehensive monitoring of notification publishing processes. The work enabled more effective tracking and analysis of queue performance, contributing to improved system reliability and maintainability. No bugs were fixed during this period, with efforts concentrated on feature development.
