Worked on stabilizing the jenkinsci/amazon-inspector-image-scanner-plugin by addressing a reliability issue in its CPU architecture detection logic. Using Java and backend development skills, reverted the automatic architecture detection feature and replaced it with a configuration-driven, explicit URL selection process. This change eliminated the risk of incorrect OS or architecture handling during image scans, improving the plugin’s reliability across diverse environments. The approach maintained backward compatibility and reduced the risk of future rollbacks by focusing on a targeted revert. The work demonstrated careful attention to software engineering principles, prioritizing correctness, traceability, and maintainability in a production plugin context.
