Ayan Sheikh developed a light theme feature for the ovh/shai repository’s terminal user interface, focusing on improving accessibility and user experience. Using Rust and environment variable management, Ayan implemented automatic theme detection via the SHAI_TUI_THEME variable and enabled dynamic palette updates. The solution allowed users to toggle between light and dark modes instantly through keyboard shortcuts or commands, reducing onboarding friction and supporting consistent theming across environments. This work demonstrated depth in TUI development and theming, laying a foundation for future extensibility. Over the month, Ayan’s contribution addressed usability challenges and aligned the interface with evolving business requirements.
