Developed a MongoDB instrumentation feature for the open-telemetry/opentelemetry-go-contrib repository, focusing on customizable span naming to enhance traceability and monitoring clarity. The work introduced a SpanNameResolver, allowing users to define span names that align with OpenTelemetry conventions and improve the observability of MongoDB operations. Implemented in Go, the solution integrates seamlessly with existing backend tracing infrastructure and supports scalable naming patterns across diverse use cases. By enabling more precise span identification, the feature reduces the time required to diagnose issues and supports better monitoring practices. No major bugs were addressed during this period, with efforts concentrated on feature delivery.
