During August 2025, Boshbbl focused on improving chat input reliability in the menloresearch/jan repository by addressing a bug affecting users composing messages with input method editors. Using React and TypeScript, Boshbbl implemented logic to detect IME composition events during Enter key presses, ensuring messages were only sent after composition was complete. This targeted fix prevented premature message submissions, particularly benefiting multilingual users who rely on complex input methods. The solution was delivered as a focused, low-risk commit, demonstrating careful attention to user experience and codebase stability. Boshbbl’s work enhanced chat usability and reduced potential support issues related to message input.
