Worked on improving the stability and reliability of ntop/ntopng by addressing a critical issue in the InfluxDB top-timeseries path. Focused on backend development using Lua scripting, the work involved implementing a guarded SNMP lookup mechanism for non-device schemas to prevent crashes when snmp_utils was unavailable. This approach aligned the behavior of top-timeseries queries with the RRD driver and ensured compatibility with the ntop Pro edition, reducing production risk for customers relying on InfluxDB-backed queries. The solution enhanced system robustness, minimized support incidents, and was documented and closed with a targeted bug fix, reflecting careful attention to production reliability.
